Dr. Susan Petruska Susan Petruska, DMD, has devoted her professional career to the pursuit of advanced technologies that improve the appearance and function of patients’ teeth. She was one of the first dentists in western Pennsylvania to become certified in laser whitening techniques, and enjoys one of the largest cosmetic dentistry practices in the area. Dr. Petruska has served as a clinical professor in Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She is a guest lecturer in cosmetic dentistry at West Virginia University School of Dentistry, and also lectures to dentists in the United States and Europe on tooth whitening and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Petruska is accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the largest cosmetic dental organization in the world. Only 275 cosmetic dentists, just 25 women, have achieved this certification. Dentists who undergo this extensive evaluation of their abilities must excel in all areas of cosmetic dentistry, including veneers, anterior bridge work, bonding cases, reconstruction and replacing an anterior tooth. Each clinical case is reviewed according to a 50-point criteria, and must pass all points, as well as meet the standards of all five judges on the review panel. In 2005, Dr. Petruska was named one of the top cosmetic dentists in America by the Consumers Research Council of America. This independent research company, which evaluates professional services throughout America, published its findings in its November 2005 Guide to America’s Top Dentists. Dr. Petruska is a six time award winner in the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Smile Gallery competition. She has won two gold medals and recently was awarded a gold medal in the annual scientific session at the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Smile Gallery competition in May 2007. Dr. Petruska is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the University Conference on Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery and a Fellow in the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics. Dr. Petruska is the recipient of the 1989 Glugsmith Award for Excellence in Operative Dentistry, the 1989 Certificate of Recognition from the American Association of Women Dentists, and 1995-1996 Clinical Faculty Award from the University of Pittsburgh School Dental Medicine. |

Dr. Daniel Rairigh Dr. Rairigh, the newest member of our Esthetic Dentistry team, has assumed complete responsibility for our South Hills office. Dr. Rairigh graduated Summa Cum Laude with distinction from Bethany College. He went on to graduate fifth in his class from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2004. In addition, he attended the Dawson Academy of Advanced Dental Studies in St. Petersburg, FL, a postgraduate educational and clinical research facility, where he was able to refine his skills and his attention to total patient care. Upon Graduation, Dr. Rairigh moved to Washington, PA and joined one of the top cosmetic and restorative practices in Wheeling, WV. Dr. Rairigh is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Rairigh is also an accomplished artist who has won numerous awards for his art work. His keen artistic eye coupled with his ability to employ the latest advances in dental science translates to a beautiful healthy smile for his patients. When you visit the South Hills office, look around…Dr. Rairigh's art work is displayed for all to see. Since Dr. Rairigh has assumed responsibility for the South Hills office, he has added new technology and procedures to include: drill-less dental technology, laser-assisted dentistry, invisalign and root canal treatment. He will soon be adding same visit ceramic restorations and implant surgery to ensure our South Hills patients have all the best available in one place. |

Dr. Amanda Manning Dr. Manning joined Esthetic Dentistry in 2005 after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Richmond. During her time at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Manning was one of only 15 students in her class to be invited to participate in the Anesthesia Selective Program, where she became skilled at in-office sedation. During her advanced hospital dentistry residency at UPMC Montefiore Hospital, she developed the skills needed to work with medically compromised patients, including patients whose health problems required special attention during their dental visits. Dr. Manning has also participated in an advanced pediatric dentistry selective program. She enjoys treating children of all ages and has unique training to handle their concerns and fears and make their dental appointments a positive one. The winner of the 2004 American Academy of Oral Medicine Award, which is given for achievement, proficiency and promise in the field of oral medicine, Dr. Manning is a member of the American Dental Association and the Cum Laude Society. |
| Dr. Peter Maropis Peter Maropis, D.M.D. has provided implant reconstructive dentistry at the highest level in western Pennsylvania for 17 years. Dr. Maropis received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. After a short hiatus to play professional baseball in the Chicago Whitesox Organization, he returned home and attended the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine. He graduated in 1981 with a doctor of dental medicine and received The Mosby Award for Scholastic Excellence. In 1989, Dr. Maropis attended The Misch Implant Institute in Dearborn, Michigan, where he received his surgical and prosthetic certification in implant dentistry in 1990. Dr. Maropis enjoys providing very predictable implant dentistry that will restore both function and self-confidence for his patients. He believes implant dentistry can truly change people’s lives. Continuing to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry, Dr. Maropis completed his certification in hard and soft tissue dentistry from The Las Vegas Institute for advanced studies in 2005. Dr. Maropis is a member of The International Congress of Oral Implantology. | |
